Department: Gameday Couture
Reports To: President & VP of Sales
Meeting preparation and participation
Gameday Couture is hiring an experienced, highly proactive Wholesale Sales & Business Development Lead to own and grow a portfolio of wholesale accounts while actively developing new business across licensed sports apparel.
This is not a traditional seasonal sales role built around presenting a line a few times a year.
Our wholesale business operates across prebook, made-to-order/chase, available inventory, replenishment, new product launches, customer-specific opportunities and an expanding B2B ecommerce platform. Selling opportunities exist throughout the year, and we are looking for someone whose job is to consistently identify and convert them.
This person should wake up thinking about customers, opportunities and revenue — what can we sell, who should we sell it to, what are our customers missing, where can we expand an existing account, and what new doors should we be pursuing?
The right candidate combines strong relationship management with a true sales mentality: proactive, commercially curious, organized, comfortable picking up the phone, willing to travel, and motivated by creating business rather than simply servicing it.
Own and grow an assigned portfolio of wholesale accounts across NCAA, NFL, MLS and other licensed programs.
Proactively sell throughout the year across:
You will be expected to understand what each customer currently buys, identify what they aren't buying, and consistently put relevant opportunities in front of them.
Build strong, direct relationships with buyers and key decision-makers.
Develop account-level growth strategies based on assortment, teams, categories, channels and available product opportunities.
Maintain a regular customer communication cadence rather than relying solely on traditional market or prebook periods.
Conduct virtual and in-person presentations and travel to customers when the business opportunity warrants it.
Partner with senior leadership on major strategic accounts while owning the follow-through required to convert opportunities into business.
Own assigned customer presentations throughout major wholesale selling periods.
Prepare and present seasonal assortments, follow up with buyers, close orders and maintain momentum throughout the booking process.
Participate alongside senior leadership on strategic-account presentations when appropriate.
Help ensure every meaningful wholesale account is actively covered during selling season - without allowing the rest of the year to become a waiting period between markets.
Identify and pursue new wholesale opportunities across:
Build relationships before an immediate order exists and maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers.
Use existing company relationships, industry knowledge, market research and direct outreach to continually expand Gameday Couture's wholesale footprint.
Own the commercial performance and adoption of Gameday Couture's Shopify B2B platform.
Drive existing customers to use the platform for discovery, ordering, replenishment and access to new product.
Identify assortment gaps and selling opportunities through customer behavior and purchasing patterns.
Partner with internal ecommerce, creative and operations teams on site execution and merchandising needs.
The expectation is not simply to maintain a website - it is to use B2B ecommerce as another sales channel.
Maintain clear visibility into:
Use CRM and available sales, inventory, product and customer data to identify and prioritize opportunities and maintain disciplined follow-through.
Bring customer and market intelligence back into the organization — including buyer feedback, product requests, competitive observations, assortment gaps and emerging opportunities.
You will work closely with the SVP of Gameday Couture and collaborate with executive leadership, product development, design, licensing, ecommerce, operations and customer support.
Internal teams provide the infrastructure required to execute the business.
Your primary responsibility is to sell.
We do not want this position consumed by order entry, customer-service administration, art coordination or internal project management that can appropriately be handled elsewhere.
You remain accountable for the customer relationship and outcome, but your time should remain heavily concentrated on revenue-producing activity.
This is also a customer-facing role. Travel is a normal part of the position, and when an opportunity is best advanced in person, you will be expected to travel and represent Gameday Couture directly with the customer.
Success means Gameday Couture has a true year-round wholesale sales function.
Our important accounts are being actively worked.
Customers consistently see relevant products and opportunities instead of only hearing from us during prebook.
Made-to-order, chase, available inventory and replenishment opportunities are being converted into revenue.
New doors are continually being pursued.
The B2B platform is actively used as a selling tool.
Leadership has clear visibility into the sales pipeline.
And most importantly, there is someone inside the organization whose primary responsibility every week is: Find the opportunity. Work the customer. Sell the product. Create incremental revenue.
You are not waiting for someone to hand you a perfectly packaged sales initiative.
You naturally look for opportunities.
You notice that a customer is missing a product, team or category and do something about it. You follow up without being reminded. You are comfortable reaching out to someone you don't know. You like getting in front of customers.
You understand that sometimes the opportunity is a major seasonal program — and sometimes it's identifying something we already have that a customer should be buying.
You are comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where opportunities develop quickly and priorities change.
And when the best way to advance the business is to get on a plane and sit across from the customer, you get on the plane.
