The Role
We're a family-owned, fast-growing DTC brand that went from an idea in an apartment to one of the fastest-scaling names in our category in under five years. We design, manufacture, and ship everything out of our new state-of-the-art facility in Wrightstown, Wisconsin.
We have the product, the brand, and a customer base that is genuinely loyal in a way most brands only claim to be. What we're looking for now is the person who can take all of it and help scale us to be a household-name brand. Though we started as DTC, there is a massive opportunity on the B2B side of our business.
Therefore, we’re looking for a Director of Sales to build our entire B2B revenue engine in three departments: Direct, Dealer, and Retail.
This isn't a normal Director of Sales role. This is a leadership and strategy role. You'll inherit a small existing team, assess it, restructure it, and build the sales organization you need: reps, account managers, channel leads, comp plans, quotas, CRM discipline, the whole machine.
If you want to be part of the brand everyone is talking about a year from now, come build it with us.
Responsibilities
What You’ll Own
The B2B number.
Full responsibility for Direct, Dealer, and Retail revenue. You set the targets with leadership and you're accountable for hitting them through your team’s performance.
- Team buildout. Recruit, hire, train, and manage the sales organization: reps, account managers, and channel leads. Define territories, comp plans, quotas, and performance standards, and act quickly when someone isn't meeting them.
- Sales process and infrastructure. Prospecting cadences, pipeline stages, CRM discipline, forecasting, and reporting that leadership can rely on.
- Channel strategy. Determine where the real growth is across the three channels, how to price and structure each, and in what order to build.
- Retail programs. Oversee our retail relationships at the leadership level: line reviews, buyer negotiations, program structure, and sell-through with current and future partners. You'll be in the room on the accounts that matter most, with your team running the day-to-day.
- Cross-functional alignment. Coordinate with operations on inventory and fulfillment, with marketing on B2B demand generation and trade presence, and with product on what the commercial market is asking for.
Qualifications
10+ years selling physical products to businesses, with 5+ years leading sales teams. Your background is in real goods: tools, equipment, industrial products, automotive, hardware, or consumer durables. Candidates from insurance, financial services, software, or other intangibles will not be considered for this position.
- Problem solver. You don't wait for direction. You take a goal, figure out the path with the resources you have, and come to leadership with execution and answers.
- You've built a sales team from the ground up. You hired the reps, wrote the comp plans, installed the process, and can show the revenue growth that resulted.
- Retail experience is required. You've managed programs with major retailers, participated in line reviews, and negotiated with big box retailers.
- Dealer or distribution channel experience. You understand dealer economics, margin stacks, and how to grow a network without creating channel conflict.
- Strong command of the fundamentals & financial fluency. Pipeline math, quota setting, gross margin by channel, cost to serve, program ROI, territory design, margin management, channel conflict, and dealer economics.
- Strong experience with CRMs (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar). You've implemented or overhauled one, and you know how to build pipeline stages, forecasting, and reporting a leadership team can trust.
- Cross-functional leadership. You get things done through operations, marketing, and product without owning them.
- Executive presence. You can structure ambiguity, report crisply, and hold your own in front of leadership.
- Comfortable with accountability in both directions. You hold your team to clear standards and you expect leadership to hold you to the number.
Added Value
- Experience at or with a direct-to-consumer brand, and an understanding of how DTC and B2B channels coexist without cannibalizing each other
- Automotive, tool, or industrial equipment industry background
- Existing relationships with major retail buyers or tool truck networks
- You're an auto enthusiast who understands our blue-collar customer base
