Job summary

DC Army National Guard seeks a Light-Wheel Vehicle Mechanic to supervise and perform maintenance and recovery on wheeled vehicles in the field and shop. You will inspect, service, and repair systems, including electrical wiring and charging systems, ensuring readiness.

Training is paid, with 10 weeks Basic Training and 13 weeks Advanced Individual Training; you earn a regular paycheck during drill weekends and qualify for tuition assistance and other benefits.

Qualifications

• Military enlistment in the Army National Guard.
• Must be at least a junior in high school, or have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must be between 17 and 35 years old.
• Must be able to pass a physical exam and meet standards.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, maintain, repair, test, adjust, and replace vehicle systems and components.
• Perform recovery operations and service electrical systems, including wiring harnesses and charging systems.
• Maintain wheeled vehicles, associated trailers, and material handling equipment.
• Work in the field and in the shop to keep equipment ready for use.
