Job summary

Huntsville Hospital in Alabama seeks an Alternate Transport Service Driver to operate non-medical transport vehicles and assist wheelchair-bound patients. You will perform daily vehicle checks, secure wheelchair loads, and maintain transport logs.

Responsibilities include safe patient transport, completing paperwork, handling payments when indicated, and communicating with the Communications Center. A High School diploma or GED and BLS certification are required.

Qualifications

• High school completion or GED.
• AHA Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) or accepted equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Inspect the wheelchair vehicle at the start and end of each shift.
• Maintain an accurate log of daily transports and complete transport paperwork.
• Ensure safe transport of patients and wheelchair users.
• Load, secure and unload wheelchairs and passengers in the vehicle.
• Handle payments when indicated and submit receipts with paperwork.
• Know the vehicle equipment and operate it safely at all times.
• Return the vehicle to service after completing calls and communicate with the Communications Center.
• Assist with departmental orientation of new employees and uphold confidentiality.
