Job summary

University Hospital in Birmingham, AL is seeking a patient transport specialist to move patients safely and efficiently throughout the hospital campus. You will provide courteous, professional service to patients and families, supporting clinical staff as needed.

Responsibilities include transporting patients to treatment areas, recording basic patient information, securing equipment, assisting transfers from beds to stretchers, and maintaining a courteous ambassador role for the hospital.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED preferred.

Responsibilities

• Transports patients to and from treatment areas, including expired patients to the hospital morgue.
• Records accurate patient information on log sheets provided by initiating department.
• Secures equipment necessary for movement of patients, ensuring the equipment is clean and in good working order.
• Assists patient care staff in transferring patients from beds to stretchers, wheelchairs or other approved means of conveyance.
• Fills liquid oxygen tanks consistently at beginning of workday and uses as required or needed.
• Acts in a courteous and caring manner toward all patients, guests, visitors, families, students, and staff. Serves as an ambassador of goodwill for the hospital, treating everyone with respect.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
