Job summary

UMOS, Inc. is hiring a WHEAP Intake Specialist to support energy assistance programs across Wisconsin. You will perform intake by phone, in person, or by mail to determine eligibility, enter applications, answer questions, and coordinate with community partners.

Responsibilities include accurate data entry, scheduling, outreach to local agencies, and maintaining client confidentiality while traveling within the state as needed.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 2+ years in similar social services work (WHEAP preferred).
• Two years' experience in case management or equivalent training/experience in the social services field.
• Ability to work independently within established policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish (Hmong, Rohingya, Burmese or Arabic) preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation, a valid Wisconsin Driver License and be able to travel within the state of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient intake services for WHEAP by phone, face-to-face or by mail to determine program eligibility.
• Enter program applications into the WHEAP electronic data system timely and accurately.
• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and provide program information to applicants.
• Provide quick, proactive response to client requests for assistance, adhering to required response times.
• Maintain and secure client information, ensuring confidentiality whether in the office or out in the community.
• Conduct community outreach and provide mobile intake services to community agencies, senior centers, housing/neighborhood centers, etc.
• Work as part of a team to ensure the energy assistance program runs efficiently.
