Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a wetlands scientist to delineate wetlands and support permit applications in New Jersey and New York. You will perform field investigations and assist senior staff on multidisciplinary projects.

The role emphasizes technical writing, GIS mapping, and collaboration with regulatory agencies to ensure compliant permitting and timely project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, or related field.
  • 2–10 years of relevant experience
  • Working toward or holds Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification
  • Familiarity with USACE wetland delineation manuals, regional supplements, and state manuals
  • Proficiency with GPS/GIS field tools such as Trimble and ArcGIS Field Maps is a plus
  • Valid driver's license and ability to conduct fieldwork in varied outdoor conditions
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • Wetland Professional in Training (WPIT) status preferred
  • Experience with New Jersey and/or New York environmental permitting strongly preferred
