Job summary

Custom House Restaurant Group is seeking a reliable part-time AM Prep Cook for Westerly in Shell Beach, CA. The ideal candidate will prep ingredients and components to company standards and support the kitchen team during morning shifts on Sundays.

Training and California Food Handler certification are provided or covered per policy, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and teamwork. You'll join a family of local restaurants and contribute to a fast-paced, guest-focused kitchen that values

Qualifications

• Must be available on Sundays for morning shifts.
• Previous prep cook or commercial kitchen experience preferred.
• Experience working in a fast-paced or high-volume kitchen preferred.
• Knowledge of basic food preparation, knife skills, portioning, and food-storage practices.
• Ability to follow recipes, prep lists, and instructions accurately and consistently.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to stay organized, manage multiple tasks, and work efficiently.
• Must obtain and maintain a California Food Handler Certification.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and menu components according to recipes and company standards
• Complete assigned prep lists accurately and within required timeframes
• Wash, cut, portion, measure, and properly store ingredients
• Label, date, rotate, and organize food products using proper food-storage procedures
• Monitor food quality, freshness, and temperatures
• Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked work area
• Communicate with kitchen leadership regarding prep levels, shortages, and product needs
• Assist with receiving, storage, and inventory organization as needed
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards
• Support line cooks and other kitchen team members as operational needs require

Westerly in Shell Beach is a full-service coastal restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We are looking for a reliable and motivated part-time AM Prep Cook who takes pride in their work and can consistently prepare ingredients and menu components according to company standards. Sunday availability is required.

The AM Prep Cook is responsible for supporting daily kitchen operations by completing assigned prep accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. This role requires strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and the ability to work independently while supporting the needs of the kitchen team.

We provide full coverage for required Food Handler certification. Training time and certification costs are covered in accordance with company policy and California requirements.
