Job summary

Open New York in Westchester seeks an Organizing Coordinator to build our Westchester chapter. You will recruit volunteers, organize events and trainings, engage members, and represent ONY at civic events.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of organizing or community engagement experience, strong writing and speaking skills, and a passion for housing policy. This full-time role requires travel across Westchester and occasional evenings or weekends.

Qualifications

• Three to five years of professional experience with community engagement and/or organizing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for clear narratives.
• Experience hosting focus groups, rallies, webinars, and community meetings.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of Westchester chapters with the Director.
• Oversee volunteer recruitment to grow membership across Westchester.
• Welcome new members and lead orientations and trainings.
• Organize member events and assist members with meetups.
• Engage with members at all levels to deepen connections.
• Design strategic plans with chapter leaders and support advocacy development.
• Track member engagement and address drop-off concerns.
• Attend civic meetings and canvassing events for endorsed officials.
