Job summary

Open New York is seeking a dynamic Organizing Coordinator to build and support the Westchester chapter. You will recruit volunteers, plan events and trainings, and represent Open New York at civic and legislative gatherings to advance housing policy.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience with a preference for community engagement or organizing
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience at a grassroots membership organization with hundreds of members
• Ability to host focus groups, teach-ins, rallies, webinars, and community meetings
• Willingness to travel to community events throughout Westchester

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day operations of Westchester chapters and manage volunteer recruitment
• Welcome new members and lead orientations and trainings
• Organize member events and assist members with meetups
• Engage with members at all engagement levels to deepen connections
• Design and execute strategic plans for Westchester chapters with leaders
• Plan and oversee volunteer recruitment to grow membership including diverse groups
• Track and report member engagement and address inactive members
• Attend civic meetings and participatory events in Westchester
• Plan and execute canvassing events for endorsed officials
