West Kentucky Allied Services, Inc. (WKAS) in Mayfield, KY, seeks a Fundraising & Development VISTA to build WKAS’s first dedicated fundraising department and support long-term growth.

You will research funding opportunities through foundations, USDA Rural Development, and state grants; create a master grant calendar; develop reusable narratives; and draft initial proposals to pursue new funding streams. Eligible members may receive one year of Federal NCE after service; program runs

Responsibilities

• Build a master grant calendar and tracking database to organize opportunities, deadlines, applications, and funder relationships.
• Create a reusable library of organizational narratives, grant templates, and program descriptions.
• Draft and submit initial grant applications to pursue new funding streams.
• Build relationships with regional corporate, philanthropic, and community partners.
• Write a fundraising operations manual and train WKAS leadership and staff on grant development and management workflows to sustain these systems beyond your service year.

Who We Are: West Kentucky Allied Services, Inc. (WKAS) is a Community Action Agency dedicated to creating economic opportunity and helping low-income residents across rural Western Kentucky build lasting financial stability.

Where We Are Located: This position is based in Mayfield, KY, serving an eight-county region. Mayfield offers a welcoming rural community with a strong tradition of local service and a commitment to economic revitalization.

What You Will Do: As the Fundraising & Development VISTA, you will help build WKAS’s first dedicated fundraising department. You will research funding opportunities through community foundations, USDA Rural Development programs, and state economic grants; create a master grant calendar; develop reusable organizational narratives; and prepare and submit initial grant proposals. Your work will establish systems that support long-term fundraising growth.
