Terraphase Engineering Inc is seeking an experienced Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead the geotechnical practice on the West Coast. You will leverage established client relationships to generate new opportunities while providing technical leadership on site investigations, foundation design, and slope stability analyses.

You will develop proposals, manage budgets, and mentor engineers, collaborating with environmental and civil teams to deliver integrated solutions for complex projects.

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
• PE license on West Coast (or ability to obtain).
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive geotechnical engineering experience, preferably in consulting.
• Established client relationships and a proven pipeline of geotechnical projects.
• Proven track record in developing, maintaining, and growing client accounts contributing revenue.
• Strong expertise in geotechnical investigations, foundation engineering, slope stability, and related services.
• Experience managing complex projects, multidisciplinary teams, budgets and client expectations.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with passion for building client relationships and mentoring engineers.

• Drive business development by identifying opportunities and expanding West Coast geotechnical services.
• Lead and manage complex geotechnical projects including site investigations, design, and assessments.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor with innovative, practical solutions.
• Develop proposals, negotiate contracts, and oversee budgets, schedules, and profitability.
• Collaborate with environmental, civil, and other teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Provide senior technical oversight, QA, and guidance on investigations and analyses.
• Mentor staff and grow the geotechnical practice.
• Represent Terraphase at industry events and client meetings to expand market presence.
