Job summary

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP, a leading international law firm, seeks a Managing Clerk to support the Managing Attorney by overseeing litigation support, court docketing, and procedural compliance for the West Coast. The role leads the West Coast MCO team and coordinates cross-departmental services for attorneys and staff.

The successful candidate will manage docketing, track deadlines from court orders, and ensure accurate electronic filing in California courts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
• Advanced proficiency in e-filing systems and docketing databases.
• Deep understanding of California and federal civil procedure rules.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication with attorneys and staff.
• Ability to lead and develop junior team members.

Responsibilities

• Oversee West Coast MCO team in partnership with the Managing Attorney.
• Train West Coast staff to provide litigation functions for the Firm.
• Oversee docketing and calendaring for West Coast cases and deadlines.
• Electronically file documents in California federal and state courts.
• Review documents for conformity to court rules.
• Provide procedural advice and coordinate court-related services.
• Conduct procedural research across jurisdictions.
• Coordinate service of process and liaise with court clerks.
• Selectively bill time as authorized by partners.
• Support outside vendors for retrieval of court documents and apostilles.
