Job summary

ASU Foundation for a New American University seeks an entrepreneurial fundraising leader to serve as Executive Director of Advancement, West Coast, based in California. You will personally cultivate major gifts and guide a regional advancement team toward focused, accountable results.

The role requires expanding philanthropic networks, building strategic collaborations across ASU units, and meeting ambitious fundraising goals while translating ASU’s strengths into compelling opportunities for

Qualifications

• At least 10 years in development or related field, preferably in higher education.
• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
• Proven success cultivating, soliciting, and closing seven-figure gifts.
• Deep knowledge of California/West Coast philanthropic landscape with networks.
• Experience building relationships with high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
• Experience leading professionals, setting direction, coaching performance, and accountability.
• Strong judgment, prioritization and ability to work across multiple initiatives.
• Strong communication skills and ability to develop sophisticated proposals.

Responsibilities

• Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects.
• Lead regional advancement team toward focus, collaboration, and accountability.
• Translate ASU strengths into compelling philanthropic opportunities for donors.
• Collaborate with university leadership, schools, and units to coordinate fundraising.
• Meet personal and regional fundraising goals and report progress.
