Job summary

Bexar County is seeking a Wellness Trainer to work one-on-one with employees to achieve health goals within the Wellness Department. The role involves designing personalized wellness plans, leading demonstrations, and promoting programs across multiple offices.

You will track progress and support events while maintaining facilities. Required are a high school diploma or GED, current Personal Training Certification, CPR certification, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED is required.
• Must hold a current Personal Training Certification (NASM/ACE/NCCA/ACSM/NESTA/NFPT/ISSA).
• CPR certification required.
• Strong understanding of health and wellness terminology, gym procedures, and office procedures.
• Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects and adapt to changing conditions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient with Windows-based software.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and meet with employees one-on-one on-site or off-site to discuss wellness goals.
• Design individualized wellness plans to promote sustainable lifestyle changes.
• Facilitate use of approved resources and promote healthy behaviors and accountability.
• Lead personal training sessions and equipment demonstrations at the Wellness Center and other offices.
• Motivate employees to achieve fitness goals and promote behavioral health resources.
• Monitor progress and provide outcome summaries for each employee.
• Maintain the Wellness Center facilities and assist with equipment upkeep.
• Support wellness programs and events across the department.

Summary

Under general direction, is responsible for working one-on-one with employees to achieve their wellness goals, while supporting the activities and programs of the Bexar County Wellness Department and performing related duties as required.

Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Schedule and meet with employees one-on-one both onsite and offsite to discuss wellness goals, evaluate fitness levels and skillset, and design individual wellness plans tailored to reach sustainable long-term healthy lifestyle changes
• Use approved resources and identify strategies that promote healthy behaviors, personal development, and accountability among participants
• Perform personal training and host equipment demonstrations at the Bexar County Employee Wellness Center and other offices as needed
• Motivate and inspire employees to reach their fitness goals, while promoting additional wellbeing resources for chronic diseases, mental health, and financial wellness
• Serve as an expert on all wellness programs and other materials relating to Bexar County Wellness
• Track continued progress for each employee and provide summaries of outcomes
• Assist with maintaining The Employee Wellness Center, including equipment maintenance, and other related facility arrangements as needed
• Support the Bexar County Wellness Team with programs and events as needed
• Performs other duties as required

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, and two (2) years’ experience in health and wellness or a similar field environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Must hold a current Personal Training Certification (i.e. NASM, ACE, NCCA, ACSM, NESTA, NFPT, ISSA)
• Must hold a current CPR Certification
• Must understand health and wellness terminology, gym procedures, and office procedures
• Must have skills in organizing and prioritizing multiple projects; ability to meet changing job conditions; ability to schedule and coordinate meetings
• Must have skills in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing; skill in utilizing windows-based word processing, presentations, and spreadsheet software
• Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public
• Must have and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license, motor vehicle liability insurance and personal injury insurance
• Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
• Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test

Preferred Qualifications

• English/Spanish Bilingual ability to understand and to make one’s self understood to Spanish speaking individuals
