Job summary

YMCA of Montclair currently seeks a part-time Wellness Floor Operations team member in Montclair, NJ. You will engage with members daily, provide orientations, model proper equipment use, and promote healthy living in a welcoming environment.

You will ensure safety, assist with program initiatives, and support shift coverage while maintaining a professional image and CPR/First Aid readiness.

Qualifications

• Must have knowledge of YMCA fitness equipment and how to instruct proper form and safety.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or obtain within 90 days.
• Complete Y-USA online trainings within three business days.
• Positive, upbeat attitude with strong member service skills.

Responsibilities

• Greet members, establish rapport, and learn member names.
• Conduct facility orientations and assist members with goals.
• Tour exercise rooms and ensure guidelines are followed.
• Promote healthy living and support member satisfaction.
• Refer members with medical concerns to the Director of Personal Training.
• Supervise behavior and enforce safety rules.
• Maintain clean and orderly facilities.
• Arrive well-groomed and wear YMCA staff attire.
• Communicate substitutions for scheduled shifts.
• Assist with emergency evacuation and safety tasks.
• Attend staff meetings and CPR/First Aid certification.
