Job summary

The YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas is seeking a Wellness Coach to support the wellness area, coach members, and maintain equipment. Under supervision, you will ensure high-quality service and engage members and staff in healthy living activities.

Responsibilities include member training, daily equipment checks, and following safety procedures. Must complete required trainings and certifications within set timeframes. Join a values-based team focused on community health.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Minimum 6 months experience in wellness.
• Grade III: minimum 6 months wellness experience.
• Grade IV: minimum 2 years fitness experience or up to 2 years college-level exercise science.
• Must obtain YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles within 6 months.
• CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification required within 60 days.
• Complete required trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment.
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks required.

Responsibilities

• Support YMCA mission, vision and goals.
• Promote values-based culture: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility.
• Lead to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
• Supervise wellness area.
• Engage members through coaching on wellness activities.
• Provide and document member training, orientations and evaluations.
• Perform daily equipment checks and sanitation.
