Job summary

YMCA of the Virginia Peninsulas is seeking a Wellness Coach to support members' wellness goals, maintain equipment and spaces, and engage staff in delivering high-quality service. You will coach members, welcome and connect with guests, and assist in and out of class sessions.

The role requires a minimum age of 18, 6 months wellness experience, and CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 certification within 60 days. Training completion and background checks are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• At least 6 months experience in the wellness field.
• Must obtain YMCA Healthy Lifestyle Principles and Foundations of Strength and Conditioning within 6 months.
• Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 within 60 days of hire.
• Complete trainings: NEO, Bloodborne Pathogens, CAP, Sexual Harassment.
• Criminal background and Child Protective Services checks are required.

Responsibilities

• Support the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA.
• Promote a professional values-based culture (caring, honesty, respect, responsibility).
• Lead to strengthen community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
• Supervise the wellness area.
• Engage members through coaching on wellness activities.
• Provide member training, orientations, and evaluations as scheduled.
• Perform daily equipment checks and document them.
• Daily cleaning of the wellness area and document procedures.
• Enter maintenance requests in maintenance software.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
• Wear staff uniform and name tag or professional attire.
• Act as a leader in emergencies and report accidents per plan.
• Follow Association standards.
• Carry out other related duties to ensure excellent member experience.
