Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Well Site Supervisor to oversee drilling and workover activities across field locations, starting in Upington. You will manage personnel, coordinate operations, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance on the rig.

The role requires strong leadership, deep drilling knowledge, and the ability to work in remote environments. You will report to onshore support, maintain equipment, and deliver daily progress reports.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a Well Site Supervisor or Rig Manager in Oil & Gas.
• Strong background in drilling operations, well control, and safety management.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent understanding of drilling equipment, procedures, and best practices.
• Knowledge of relevant HSE regulations and standards.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure in a remote field environment.
• Relevant certifications in drilling operations and safety preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise drilling and workover operations on the rig site, ensuring adherence to plans and procedures.
• Ensure strict compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and regulations.
• Manage and coordinate the activities of rig crews, service company personnel, and other site staff.
• Monitor operational performance, troubleshoot issues, and make timely decisions to maintain progress.
• Oversee the proper use and maintenance of drilling equipment and materials.
• Prepare daily operational reports, documenting progress, challenges, and resource utilization.
• Facilitate effective communication between the rig site and onshore operational support teams.
