Job summary

Heseman Consulting seeks an experienced well planner for a full-time, hybrid role based in Conroe, Texas. The candidate will manage planning for multiple rigs, deliver PvA reports, and participate in regular customer and operations meetings.

The role requires 3+ years in well planning, proficiency with Compass, AutoCAD, Well Seeker, and Landmark tools, and the ability to work independently with multiple deadlines.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of 3+ years experience in well planning.
• Availability for a flexible, weekly on-call rotation (every third week).
• Extremely detail-oriented and capable of covering assigned rigs without supervision.
• Experience creating directional well plans with Landmark Compass is required.

Responsibilities

• Plan wells and monitor progress for multiple operators independently and simultaneously.
• Deliver daily plan vs. actual (PvA) reports promptly each morning.
• Attend routine customer and operations meetings.
• Manage a varied workload with concurrent deadlines across multiple projects.
• Mitigate anti-collision risks while maximizing drilling efficiency.
• Have experience with Landmark’s WellPlan or Innova Engineering to provide torque and drag reports.
• Study complex well planning concepts (geomagnetic modeling, IPM/Survey tools, coordinate conversions) as needed.
• Troubleshoot well planning questions/issues with Innova Well Seeker as needed.

Heseman Consulting is recruiting for a well planning role. This is a full-time role with a hybrid schedule. Office is located in Conroe, Texas. This role will be perfect for someone looking for a workplace that offers greater flexibility in managing workload.

• Must have a minimum of 3+ years experience in well planning
• Availability for a flexible, weekly on-call rotation (every third week)
• Extremely detail-oriented and capable of covering assigned rigs without supervision
• Experience creating directional well plans with Landmark Compass is required

The candidate will be expected to utilize Compass, AutoCAD, and Well Seeker day-to-day.

The ideal candidate will:

• Plan wells and monitor progress for multiple operators independently and simultaneously
• Deliver daily plan vs. actual (PvA) reports promptly each morning
• Attend routine customer and operations meetings
• Manage a varied workload with concurrent deadlines across multiple projects
• Mitigate anti-collision risks while maximizing drilling efficiency
• Have some level of experience with Landmark’s WellPlan or Innova Engineering to provide torque and drag reports
• Routinely study to understand more complex functions of well planning/wellbore positioning such as: variability in geomagnetic modeling, IPM/Survey tools and their effect on ellipses of uncertainty, and the conversion of coordinates across geodetic systems.
• Participate in troubleshooting well planning-specific questions/issues with Innova Well Seeker as needed by field personnel
• Be willing to work cooperatively/flexibly with other team members
• Be self-sufficient, able to set and adhere to deadlines to manage a dynamic workload

An experienced well planner should expect to carry planning responsibilities for somewhere between 6-10 rigs.
