Job summary

Rosehill Resources, Inc. is seeking a Well Planner II to support the development of well plans and engineering designs, enabling safe, efficient, and cost-effective drilling operations.

The role works closely with senior engineers, drilling teams, and clients to contribute to well design, planning activities, and operational execution. You will perform basic to intermediate calculations, analyze data, and prepare technical documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in petroleum/reservoir engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 1+ year of drilling engineering or well planning experience.
  • Basic knowledge of drilling operations and well design concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development of well plans and trajectories; support drilling programs.
  • Perform basic to intermediate engineering calculations (hydraulics, torque & drag).
  • Support operational schedules and data analysis to optimize planning.
  • Analyze offset well data to support planning and optimization.
  • Collaborate with drilling supervisors and engineers to address issues.
  • Identify risks and assist in mitigation planning.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare End of Well Reports and well programs; maintain technical docs.
  • Provide support to ongoing drilling operations as needed.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Overview

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development of well plans, including trajectories, drilling programs
  • Perform basic to intermediate engineering calculations (e.g., hydraulics, torque & drag)
  • Support the operational schedules
  • Analyze offset well data to support planning and optimization
  • Collaborate with drilling supervisors and engineers
  • Identify potential risks and support mitigation planning
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare technical documentation, End of Well Report, and well programs
  • Provide support to ongoing drilling operations when required
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
