Job summary

Midlands Technical College is seeking a Welding Technology instructor for the Airport Campus to deliver and supervise welding courses. You will prepare instructional materials, conduct lectures, and assess student outcomes while maintaining accurate records and staying current with industry practices.

The role requires an Associate's degree in Welding Technology or related field and 3–5 years of direct welding experience, with a focus on hands-on lab instruction and safety in the welding lab.

Qualifications

  • Experience with lab instruction and welding equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high level of teaching excellence and interact effectively with students.
  • Prepare materials needed for course instruction and testing.
  • Keep student records and adhere to course schedules.
  • Use learning management systems to communicate with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in collection of student learning outcomes.
  • Assist the Welding Technology Program Director with timely notification of shortfalls in supplies or equipment for lab instruction.
  • Conduct lectures, discussions and other teaching activities.
  • Relate instruction and material to course objectives and provide syllabi.
  • Correlate grade assignments with skill and course competency and submit grades on time.
  • Remain current in the Welding Technology field.

Job description

Maintains a high level of excellence in teaching and interacting effectively with students enrolled in courses within the program area. Prepares materials needed for course instruction and testing. Keeps student records and adheres to course schedules. Uses learning management systems to communicate with students, faculty, and staff. Participates in the collection of student learning outcomes. Assists the Welding Technology Program Director with timely notification of any shortfall in supplies or equipment needed for lab instruction. Conducts lectures, discussion, and other teaching activities. Relates instruction and material to course objective. Provides students with course syllabi and correlates grade assignment with skill and course competency. Submits grades, reports and records in a timely manner. Remains current in field. Must have a broad knowledge of the Welding Technology industry with specific knowledge in the areas of teaching Welding. The faculty member needs to have a minimum of an Associate's degree in Welding Technology or a related field and three to five years direct practical experience working.
