Job summary

Lansing Community College seeks professional welders to teach courses in the Welding Technology Program. Qualified individuals will be able to teach oxy fuel welding, brazing, and cutting.

In addition, they will be able to teach shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, gas tungsten arc welding (preferably experience in pipe welding), and have knowledge of Metallurgy as it relates to Welding. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Welding with 2+ years documented welding experience; OR Associate's Degree with 3+ years welding experience; OR Journeyman certification with 3+ years experience; OR HS Diploma/GED with journeyman cert and 5+ years welding experience.
  • American Welding Society (AWS) membership is required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the Welding Technology Program, including oxy-fuel welding, brazing, cutting, SMAW, GMAW, and GTAW (pipe welding preferred).
  • Maintain a positive learning environment and diversify instructional techniques to fit student learning styles.
  • Attend Applied Manufacturing Technologies program faculty meetings and meet all requirements for part-time faculty.

New Hire Starting Pay: Rate of pay is based on the required qualifications of this position.

Adjunct Positions are filled by semester on an as needed basis. Applicants in this applicant pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy. Review of applications will then stop for the semester once the vacancy has been filled.

This opportunity is for daytime and/or evening teaching assignments. This position requires in-person face-to-face instruction.

Regular on campus presence is expected for all LCC employment. Any flexible work schedules and/or hybrid work schedules approved by the College are subject to change based on the needs of the LCC community.

LCC policy requires all LCC employees to be residents of the State of Michigan and to perform all work (with limited exceptions) within the State of Michigan.

Final candidates will be subject to a criminal background check as part of the employment process.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Welding with a minimum of two (2) years documented industry welding experience; OR Associate's Degree in Welding and a minimum of three (3) years of documented industry welding experience; OR Journeyman certification in an area related to welding and minimum of 3 years of documented industry welding experience; OR High School Diploma or GED with Journeyman certification course studies related to the welding field and a minimum of five (5) years of documented industry welding experience.

American Welding Society (AWS) membership.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification.

Robotic Welding experience.
