Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high level of excellence in teaching by communicating and interacting effectively with students enrolled in courses within the program area.
  • Prepare materials needed for course instruction and testing.
  • Keep student records and adhere to course schedules.
  • Use learning management systems to communicate with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Participate in the collection of student learning outcomes.
  • Assist the Welding Technology program coordinator with timely notification of any shortfall in supplies or equipment needed for lab instruction.
  • Conduct lectures, discussions, and other teaching activities.
  • Relate instruction and material to course objectives.
  • Provide students with course syllabi and correlate grade assignment with skill and course competency.
  • Submit grades, reports, and records in a timely manner.
  • Remain current in the field.
  • Have a broad knowledge of the Welding industry with specific knowledge in the area(s) of teaching welding and welding techniques.
  • Have a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Welding Technology or a related field and three to five years of direct practical experience working independently in GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW welding, Welding Stainless Steel, Welding Aluminum, and Welding Fabrication.
Location

This position is located on the Midlands Technical College Airport Campus.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Associate’s degree in Welding Technology or a related field and a minimum of three (3) years of related construction experience.

Preferred Qualifications

AWS D1.1 Welding Certifications, AWS Certified Welding Inspectors License, and 3-5 years of teaching related experience.

Additional Comments

Adjunct faculty are compensated in accordance with Midlands Technical College’s established pay schedule. The standard adjunct pay rate is $65 per contact hour. Final compensation may vary depending on academic credentials and total course credit hours. Any variation is determined upon hire and outlined in the faculty employment agreement.
