Job summary

The University of New Mexico-Los Alamos (UNM-LA) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month, Lecturer I or II faculty appointment in Welding Technology. The teaching load includes courses such as Arc Welding I, GMAW I, GTAW I and other introductory/intermediate undergraduate welding classes, with duties tied to maintaining equipment and updating curricula.

Full-time faculty are expected to teach, engage in service, and participate in professional development per workload policies.

Qualifications

• Minimum requirements include a current professional welding certification (AWS or ASME).
• Three years of trades experience in welding.
• Residence in Northern New Mexico and ability to be on campus in Los Alamos at least three days per week (contingent on offer).

Responsibilities

• Teach Welding Technology courses (Arc Welding I, GMAW I, GTAW I) and related introductory/intermediate classes.
• Maintain and repair equipment in the UNM-LA machine shop; manage inventory and supplies to keep operations running.
• Enforce all safety procedures in the welding shop and coordinate scrap metal removal.
• Engage in advising, service, and professional development activities as assigned; participate in committees and governance.
