Job summary

Union Tank Car Company is seeking applicants to join our production team at our Marion, Ohio shop. Welders perform welding and mechanical repairs on tank and hopper cars, read blueprints, and work with a variety of hand and power tools.

The role requires safety awareness, teamwork, and the ability to follow written instructions. Eligible candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, pass a welding test, and be able to work overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or pass a Combined Basic Skills Test.
• Must pass the welding test and be able to read blueprints.
• Able to read, interpret, and follow documentation such as safety rules and maintenance instructions.

Responsibilities

• Welds components related to tank cars including tanks, bolsters, underframes, side sills, etc.
• Performs welded repairs using air arc cutting torch and stick or wire welding equipment.
• Uses hand tools and equipment to chip and grind weld, slag, or spatter.
• Maintains a neat, orderly work area and reports potential hazards.
