Job summary
Pridgeon and Clay in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Welding Process Engineer to develop and optimize robotic welding programs across Fanuc, ABB, Panasonic, Motoman systems in line with company standards.
The role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering (welding), 1+ year in manufacturing, and strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Travel may be required, and a path for growth is offered.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering with welding emphasis.
- 1+ year engineering experience in manufacturing including launching new products.
- Experience with machine build projects and poka-yoke sensors for new jobs.
- Experience programming robotic welders (Fanuc/ABB/Panasonic/Motoman).
- Knowledge of GD&T and reading blueprints; CMM understanding.
Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary welding team and coordinate with engineering leadership.
- Forecast headcount and recruit/hire/train team members.
- Provide regular feedback and performance reviews; administer disciplinary actions if needed.
- Oversee welding and assembly departments in absence of leaders.
- Lead continuous improvement, 8D/5-Why problem solving and lean initiatives.
