Job summary

Textron Systems, located in US-Louisiana-New Orleans, seeks a Weld Engineer II to oversee welding processes from design to fulfillment. The role interfaces with design engineering to ensure manufacturability, establishes processes per standards, and drives improvements in welding techniques, safety, and quality plans.

The candidate will analyze problems, perform root cause analysis, and work independently with attention to detail while using MS Office tools for documentation and reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, welding, manufacturing, metallurgy or industrial engineering.
• 3+ years of quality, welding, or manufacturing experience.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards; government/military standards desirable.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs technical aspects of welding processes within the SSC group.
• Interface with design engineering to ensure process/manufacturing requirements are met.
• Establishes welding processes per national/military standards/specifications.
• Develops and coordinates improved welding processes, techniques, and safety procedures.
• Identifies welding process problems and resolves them.
• Performs root cause analysis to reduce issues through design and process improvements.
• Develops quality plans detailing instructions, materials, and records.
• Reviews drawings, BOMs, tools, and floor space requirements.
• Plans minimum quality standards, tests, and process controls.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
