Wallace Community College is seeking a Welding Lab Assistant to support daily operation of the welding laboratory, helping with preparation, equipment and materials management, and safety. You will work closely with the Welding Instructor to ensure students have tools and a safe environment for hands-on activities.
The role requires a high school diploma or GED and at least three years of welding experience; a welding diploma or certificate is preferred.
Under the supervision of the Welding Instructor and/or appropriate administrator, the Welding Lab Assistant provides support for the daily operation of the welding laboratory. The position assists with laboratory preparation, equipment and materials management, safety procedures, student activities, and maintenance of a safe, clean, and organized instructional environment. The position works closely with the Welding Instructor to support hands-on instruction and ensure students have the tools, equipment, materials, and work environment necessary to successfully complete laboratory activities. The position may assist students with basic welding techniques and equipment operation within the scope of training, experience, and direction provided by the instructor.
POSTING DATE: AUGUST 10, 2026
SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule H35 Rank 1 for 12 months (range: $41,240 - $49,302).
ANTICIPATED START DATE: SEPTEMBER 1, 2026
This position will be based initially at Wallace in Dothan, Alabama.

ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interviews, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.
