Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach welding courses during the 2026-2027 academic year across WWCC campuses in Walla Walla, Clarkston, WA Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge, and online. Positions offer part-time, temporary status with flexible hours and opportunities to teach diverse adult learners in extended learning programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum five (5) years of recent, paid, relevant journey-level welding experience or three years beyond a degree/certification.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• For remote work, must reside in WA/OR/ID/CA/IL/NE/NV/PA/TX.
• Preferred certifications (ASME/AWS/WABO) and current AWS CWI are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in assigned welding classes including GTAW, SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and pipe welding.
• Instruct blue print reading, fabrication, and welding safety.
• Monitor student progress and maintain competency records per AWS standards.
• Instruct evenings and foster a safe, inclusive learning environment.

Description

Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) seeks to develop applicant pools for adjunct faculty to teach course offerings throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. WWCC offers opportunities for adjunct faculty to teach courses at all of our campuses: Walla Walla, Clarkston, Washington State Penitentiary, Coyote Ridge Corrections Center, as well as online/remotely (please see required qualifications for approved remote states).

Part-time/temporary adjunct faculty positions offer flexible hours and the opportunity to assist a diverse group of adult students in achieving their educational goals. WWCC offers a wide range of opportunities in extended learning, dual-credit alternative high school, workplace learning, outreach learning, and personal enrichment programs.

WWCC accepts applications for adjunct faculty positions on a continuous basis, though it does not necessarily imply that there are immediate openings. Applicants who meet the required minimum qualifications and submit a complete application with all required components will become part of the standing pool which the College will draw on as scheduling needs dictate.

Qualified candidates are encouraged to submit materials at any time. • Both dual shielded, and self-shielding wire

• Oxyfuel welding and cutting of pipe
• Instruct the applications and uses of Plasma arc cutting
• Manual cutting of plate
• Semi-automated cutting of plate and pipe

• Provide instruction in blue print reading

• Foster and promote a safe working environment, while ensuring safe and professional work ethics and practices.

• Maintain competency assessment records and student progress accountability measures as specified by American Welding Society (AWS) standards.
• Implementation of American Welding Society (AWS), Washington Association of Building Occupations (WABO) program/curriculum certification.
• Monitor and evaluate student progress.
• Ensure that classrooms, shop and equipment are maintained and in operational condition.

Required Qualifications

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. For remote work, must reside in either WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, NE, NV, PA, or TX.

• A minimum of five (5) years of recent, paid, relevant journey-level work experience as a professional welder or three years beyond a degree or certification in welding.
• Experience in supervising support staff, technicians or student workers.

Preferred Qualifications

• ASME, AWS or WABO welding certification.
• Current AWS CWI, or the ability to earn within the first year of employment.
• Associate of Arts and Sciences degree in welding and/or baccalaureate degree in Industrial Arts.
• Experience coordinating activities with other employees, supervisors, contractors and/or faculty members in related disciplines.
• Experience as an instructional trainer/teacher at the secondary or post-secondary level, industrial, union, and/or workplace setting.
• Experience in fabrication equipment including but not limited to the operation of CNC press brake, shear, CNC plasma, or CNC tube bending.
• Experience in drafting, blueprinting or design.
• Bilingual English/Spanish.

Conditions/Terms of Employment

This is a part-time instruction assignment contingent on enrollment and located at the Walla Walla Campus. Compensation

Compensation for an adjunct assistant professor is contingent on enrollment and paid in accordance with the contract between the WWCC Board of Trustees and the WWCC Association for Higher Education. found on the WWCC Human Resources Page. Refer to Appendix C for the adjunct salary schedule.
