Job summary

Tidewater Tech in Norfolk, VA seeks a Combination Welding Instructor to deliver in-class instruction and hands-on training. You will ensure up-to-date materials and a positive learning environment while guiding students toward entry-level welding careers.

The role requires passing SMAW/FCAW tests, completing bevel groove tests, and holding AWS certification (provided by TTT). A 5-day paid instructor training program is offered to facilitate transition into the classroom.

Qualifications

• Pass 3G and 4G SMAW/FCAW weld tests at interview.
• Complete a 3/8" bevel groove test with backing in 3G/4G positions.
• AWS certification testing/certification provided by TTT.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Minimum three years of hands-on welding experience.

Responsibilities

• Teach classes regularly and create a welcoming learning environment.
• Assist in curriculum development, course materials, and scheduling.
• Maintain academic and attendance records for students.
• Keep classroom and lab neat and orderly.
• Submit attendance, grades, and required reports per procedures.
• Notify supervisor of issues requiring attention.
• Utilize retention techniques approved by the school.
• Complete training modules as directed by management.
• Assist with inventory and purchase requests for equipment.
• Maintain and use program equipment effectively.
• Attend and participate in mandatory meetings and trainings.
• Flag student absences, especially initial occurrences.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
