Job summary

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking a Welding Instructor to plan, develop, and teach welding courses with hands-on training to prepare students for employment. The instructor will also help manage inventory, maintain equipment, and collaborate with employer partners to align training with industry needs.

The role reports to the Welding Program Leader and requires extensive welding experience, curriculum development skills, and strong communication abilities.

Qualifications

• Extensive welding experience.
• Experience with SMAW, GTAW, GMAW or FCAW.
• Ability to develop programs and apply curricula to meet VDOE, VCCS, and industry needs.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Maintain performance records and documents.
• Utilize technology to enhance teaching and the education experience.
• Establish learning methods with measurable outcomes.
• Customer service experience and teamwork.
• Coordinate with educational and corporate partners and workforce stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
