New Horizons Regional Education Centers’ Center for Apprenticeship & Adult Training (CFAAT) in Hampton, Virginia is seeking a Welding Instructor Assistant to support adult evening welding classes. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on ARC welding expertise and a passion for workforce development.

You will assist the lead instructor in ARC welding processes (SMAW, MIG, FLUX, TIG), ensure safety, monitor progress, and help maintain equipment to provide a safe, productive learning environment for

Qualifications

Minimum of 5 years of ARC welding experience including SMAW, MIG, FLUX, TIG.
Graduation from an accredited welding program (NHREC CTE/H Welding Program or CFAAT).
Availability to work evening classes on Mon/Wed 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Responsibilities

Assist lead Welding Instructor with classroom and lab instruction in ARC welding processes.
Provide students with guidance on safety practices, welding techniques, and equipment use.
Monitor student progress and offer individualized assistance to reinforce skill development.
Help maintain welding equipment, labs, and instructional materials to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
Support classroom management and ensure adherence to program rules, safety protocols, and professional standards.
Collaborate with instructional staff to enhance student learning experiences and outcomes.
