Job summary

Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac, Michigan, invites applications for a full-time Welding Faculty member. The incumbent will teach a variety of Welding courses primarily on the Niles, MI campus and may include day or evening hours.

Responsibilities include delivering curriculum, maintaining course outlines, promoting active learning, ensuring safety, and contributing to the School of Business and Advanced Technology through committee work and professional engagement.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant industry experience; or
• A recognized welding, apprenticeship, journey-level, or other relevant industry credential, plus at least three years of relevant industry experience; or
• At least five years of documented, progressively responsible industry experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related field.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and provides all lecture and laboratory instruction according to the required curriculum
• Maintains current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms for the program
• Facilitates high quality instruction through the delivery of course content and materials
• Utilizes active and collaborative learning strategies and a variety of other pedagogies to engage learners
• Demonstrates safety protocols and assures a safe environment for students, faculty, and staff
• Demonstrates a deep commitment to every student’s success
• Maintains standing as a subject matter expert by remaining current and connected to the field
• Serves as a contributing member to the School of Business and Advanced Technology
• Serves on college committees
• Demonstrates a deep commitment to diversity and treats others fairly, with courtesy, and respect
• Brings credit to Southwestern Michigan College through demonstrating the highest level of professionalism
