Qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant industry experience; or
  • A recognized welding, apprenticeship, journey-level, or other relevant industry credential, plus at least three years of relevant industry experience; or
  • At least five years of documented, progressively responsible industry experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related field.

  • Facilitates high quality instruction through the delivery of course content and materials

Job Description Summary

The full-time Welding Faculty member teaches a variety of Welding courses. These classes are primarily held on the Niles, MI campus and may be day or evening hours.

Required Qualifications

Candidates must meet one of the following:

  • Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field, plus at least two years of relevant industry experience; or
  • A recognized welding, apprenticeship, journey-level, or other relevant industry credential, plus at least three years of relevant industry experience; or
  • At least five years of documented, progressively responsible industry experience in welding, fabrication, or a closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Welding Society ( AWS ) certification or other relevant industry-recognized welding credentials.
  • Associate degree or higher in Welding, Welding Technology, Manufacturing, Applied Technology, or a closely related field.
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector ( CWI ), Certified Welding Educator ( CWE ), or comparable advanced industry credentials.
  • Prior teaching, training, apprenticeship instruction, or workplace mentoring experience.

4. The conditions the employee will be subject to in this position.

A. The employee is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
B. The employee is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside.
C. The employee is subject to extreme heat. Temperatures above 100 degrees for periods of more than one hour.
D. The employee is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the employee to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
E. The employee is subject to vibration. Exposure to oscillating movements of the extremities or whole body.
