An established educational institution is seeking a dedicated Welding Instructor to join their team at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. This full-time role involves teaching various welding techniques, developing course curriculum, and fostering effective relationships with students and faculty. Colby Community College is accepting applications for a full-time Welding Instructor at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility (HCF). The nine-month position begins in August 2025 (the College is open to beginning the position sooner). The candidate should establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, administrators, and faculty. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will assess student learning and application of course objectives and competencies, and design, develop, and maintain a course curriculum. Participation in various professional activities, such as actively serving on program advisory committees with area businesses, recruiting and advising students is expected. Must understand the importance of technology, integrity, innovative thinking, and teamwork to increase enrollment in a rural setting. The individual plays a prominent role in curriculum development through continual evaluation. The Welding Instructor is at the Hutchinson Correctional Facility. The instructor will work closely with the Site Coordinator at HCF and will report directly to the Vice President of Academic Affairs.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Familiarity with American Welding Society and/or American Petroleum Institute welding codes.
Must have the ability to perform and teach:
Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).
Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
Flux Core Arc Welding (FCAW).
The following thermal cutting processes: Oxy-Acetylene Cutting, Plasma Arc Cutting, and Air Carbon Arc Cutting/Gouging.
QUALIFICATIONS
Five years (minimum) industry experience required.
American Welding Society (AWS) certified welder (CW), Certified Welding Educator (CWE) credential(s) preferred; must be willing to work toward both credentials.
Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Postsecondary teaching experience preferred.
Experience working with correctional facilities preferred.
SALARY $43,200-$50,550, depending on credentials.
