Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Certified Welding Inspector II to approve or reject welds in structural steel, pipe, and fabrication, following AWS D1.1, D1.5, D1.8, ASME IX, or API 1104 as required. The role involves witnessing welder qualification tests, reviewing WPS/PQR, and directing NDT.

You will sign inspection reports for the engineer of record and building official, work at fabrication shops and field erection, and may travel to job sites.

Qualifications

• Current AWS CWI required.
• Experience inspecting under CWI 2+ years.
• Able to defend a rejection to a fabricator and document it to close retest.

Responsibilities

• Perform and sign visual weld inspections with accept/reject authority per governing code.
• Review WPS, PQR, and welder qualification records.
• Witness welder qualification tests and direct NDT; write reports and nonconformance records.
