Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to support structural steel and pipe welding under a Certified Welding Inspector. You will verify fit-up, review WPS compliance, and perform visual inspections, maintaining logs and weld maps.

The role leads toward CWI certification with company sponsorship and opportunities to advance to Welding Inspector II, including potential ICC/NDT qualifications as you progress.

Qualifications

• Reads structural drawings, weld symbols, and WPS/PQR documents.
• Interprets WPS and PQR documentation for compliance.
• Maintains physical stamina to work at height and in confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual inspection under supervision to AWS D1.1 or governing code.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejectable indications for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate NDT (UT, MT, PT) with NDT technician and record results.
