Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up and WPS compliance, perform visual inspections, and maintain inspection logs as part of a traceable record system.

The role requires reading weld symbols and structural drawings, while coordinating NDT activities and ensuring weld quality on active sites. Company sponsorship for the AWS exam may be provided.

Qualifications

• CAWI certification or eligible to sit for the CWI exam
• Reads structural drawings and weld symbols
• Willingness to work at height and on active sites
• Careful and consistent in judging weld quality

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding
• Perform visual weld inspection under CWI supervision to AWS standards
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration records
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports
• Coordinate NDT (UT, MT, PT) with the NDT technician and record results
• Record welds to welder, procedure, and result for traceability
