Job summary

Construction Material Testing is seeking a Welding Inspector I to work under a Certified Welding Inspector on structural steel and pipe welding. You will verify fit-up, inspect welds, and maintain records while pursuing CWI certification with the company's support.

Your week includes welding-time alignment, exit checks, and documenting results to ensure traceability to welders, procedures, and codes; travel to active sites is required as projects mandate.

Qualifications

• CAWI eligibility or 3+ years welding inspectionexp and CWI exam eligibility.
• Ability to read structural drawings, weld symbols, WPS/PQR documents.
• Physically able to work at height and in confined spaces on active sites.
• Careful, honest, and detail oriented in weld inspections.

Responsibilities

• Verify joint fit-up, preheat, and WPS compliance before and during welding.
• Perform visual weld inspection under supervision to applicable codes.
• Confirm welder qualifications, consumable control, and equipment calibration.
• Maintain weld maps, inspection logs, and daily reports.
• Flag rejected welds for CWI disposition.
• Coordinate with NDT technician and record results.
