Overview

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) inspects and ensures proper welding and radiographic procedures are qualified and utilized. Maintains documentation like MTRs, as-builts, and weld mapping, performing activities per client specifications, approved construction drawings, API-1104, and industry standards.

Responsibilities
  • Review approved construction drawings and company specifications.
  • Understand contract documents related to duties.
  • Have knowledge of welding techniques, positions, consumables, and maintain a detailed inspector's logbook.
  • Complete and submit inspection reports accurately.
  • Prioritize safety and report issues promptly.
  • Plan inspection duties in advance.
  • Discuss design changes or material substitutions with relevant personnel.
  • Verify materials meet requirements.
  • Report problems to the Chief Inspector.
  • Understand quality assurance, quality control, and inspection procedures.
  • Ensure welding procedures are established and welders are qualified.
  • Monitor weld quality per WPS and client standards.
  • Verify repairs meet code and specification requirements.
  • Check proper storage and usage of welding materials.
  • Track materials used in pipeline construction.
  • Ensure environmental compliance.
  • Report safety or construction deviations.
Qualifications
  • Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through AWS with experience in transmission/process piping and API-1104.
  • Either NACE CIP Level 1 or AMPP Basic Coatings Inspector Certification.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Obtain Operator Qualification (OQ) as required.

Extensive driving to job sites and offices may be required.
