Job summary

AKG is seeking a Welder Supervisor in Mitchell, SD to oversee the Weld department, ensure safe and efficient production, and manage staff across multiple shifts. The role requires welding experience, supervisory background, and strong communication skills to coordinate with leads and planners.

Ideal candidates will have the ability to read blueprints, use multiple computer programs, and maintain production paperwork while meeting daily production goals and company policies.

Qualifications

• Has knowledge of all types of welding and equipment used in the Weld department.
• Has the ability to read and understand detailed blueprint instructions.
• Has the ability to communicate with various levels of management and employees; strong oral and written communication skills are required.
• Has the ability to multitask with duties needed to meet production goals.
• Has the ability to organize production and employee paperwork; be available as needed.

Responsibilities

• Ensures that established company policies and procedures are followed.
• Makes operational decisions on how best to safely and productively run the department.
• Schedules production on a daily basis to ensure work orders are completed in a timely manner and readjusts the production schedule when expedites are needed.
• Meets with Leads daily to discuss the current needs of the department and meets with other employees as needed.
• Communicates with the Expedite Planner to discuss priority coolers that need to be produced each day.
• Maintains regular physical attendance as required for this position and reports issues to the Production Manager.
