Job summary

AKG of America in Mitchell, SD is seeking a Welded Supervisor to oversee the Welding department, supervise staff, and ensure safe, efficient production.

The role requires knowledge of welding processes, blueprint literacy, and strong communication. You will schedule daily work, coordinate with leads and planners, and maintain accurate production documentation while upholding AKG’s safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Two to seven years of welding experience.
• Prior experience in a supervisor position preferred.
• Able to work multiple shifts.
• Knowledge of welding types and equipment.
• Ability to read detailed blueprint instructions.
• Strong verbal and written communication.
• Organizes production and employee paperwork.
• Able to multitask to meet production goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that established company policies and procedures are followed.
• Schedule production on a daily basis to ensure work orders are completed on time and readjusts the production schedule when expedites are needed.
• Meets with Leads daily to discuss the current needs of the department and meets with other employees as needed.
• Communicates with the Expedite Planner to discuss priority coolers that need to be produced each day.
• Communicates with the Supervisor for the CAB and Prep departments to determine when cores will be transported from the Prep department to the Weld department.
• Receives daily production reports from each employee, reviews work orders to ensure they are appropriately completed, and provides the reports to the Data Entry Assistant in the manufacturing office.
• Approves employee time punches on a daily basis.
• Ensures the entire department is clean at the end of each shift.
• Reports any issues to the Production Manager or appropriate personnel as soon as they are detected.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of all types of welding and the equipment used in the department.
• Adheres to all policies, procedures, and requirements set forth in AKG’s Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Maintains regular physical attendance as required for this position, following AKG attendance policy in the Employee Information Handbook.
