Job summary

Comfort Systems USA Mid South is seeking a Welder Apprentice II in Birmingham, AL to assist welding tasks and develop basic welding skills under supervision. You’ll work with SMAW, GTAW, or GMAW processes while preparing materials, reading drawings, and supporting piping system fabrication.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years welding experience, safe-tool handling, and a willingness to learn. OSHA 10 preferred; team environment emphasized.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of welding or related trade experience.
• Basic understanding of welding techniques and equipment.
• Ability to use hand and power tools safely.
• Willingness to learn and develop welding skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• OSHA 10 certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing basic welding tasks using SMAW, GTAW (TIG), or GMAW processes.
• Prepare materials for welding including cutting, grinding, and fitting components.
• Read and interpret basic drawings and welding symbols.
• Support fabrication and installation of piping systems.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean work environment.
• Follow all OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
• Work collaboratively with journeymen, apprentices, and supervisors.
