Job summary

nVent is hiring a welder to interpret blueprints, set up welding equipment, and weld various materials in multiple positions. The role requires reading tape measures, following SOPs, and maintaining a safe work environment.

What you will experience in this position

Interpret blueprints and collaborate with the Lead person to confirm job requirements. Gather necessary materials and perform layout work according to specifications. Set up welding machines and adjust settings for various applications. Weld steel, aluminum, copper, and other materials in multiple positions and joint configurations. Inspect welds for quality, repairing defective joints as needed. Operate cutting torches and manual plasma cutters when required. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area by performing regular housekeeping duties.

YOU HAVE:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • At least one year of welding experience
  • Able to read tape measures and blueprints
  • Ability to properly operate welding equipment.
  • Must be trained in applicable SOPs and work instructions
  • Skilled in utilizing cutting torches, brushes, pads, buffers, grinders, overhead cranes, and rubber hammers
  • Abilities to meet the physical and environmental demands: Standing /Walking for extended periods of time, Lift up to 50lbs., Work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Wear the required PPE for the given position.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry heavy objects. Comfortable working in various positions, including standing, bending, and kneeling. Willingness to work in different environments, including outdoor and confined spaces.
