Job summary

Smeal SFA in Snyder, NE, seeks a skilled Welder to join our production team and help fabricate high-quality fire apparatus. You will perform MIG and TIG welding, read blueprints, and ensure parts meet exacting specifications while maintaining equipment and safety standards.

Ideal candidates have 1 year of manufacturing experience, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to read tape measures, shop drawings, and perform precise layouts. This role supports USA-made products and career growth.

Qualifications

  • Preferred 1 year of manufacturing experience.
  • Preferred high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
  • Must read blueprints, engineering drawings and perform shop math to layout, fabricate and weld parts and assemblies.
  • Must have knowledge/experience in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG) welding.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Successful completion of the drug and background screening.

Responsibilities

  • Weld using MIG and TIG procedures, including machine settings, bottles, and fittings.
  • Weld aluminum and stainless steel; set up and maintain welding equipment.
  • Inspect welds for cracks, burn-through, and spatter.
  • Grind and clean weld areas as required.
  • Follow TPM and safety procedures; assist in basic equipment maintenance.

A Day in the Life of a Welder at REV:

  • Perform all GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG welding procedures including machine settings, bottles, and necessary fittings.
  • Welding Aluminum and set up and maintaining welding machine (tip, liner, changes, etc.) and welding vertical, horizontal, and overhead.
  • Inspect welds for cracks, burn-through, and weld spatter.
  • Welding of aluminum and stainless steel where required.
  • Grind and clean areas where required.
  • Stay current in TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and basic mechanical adjustments on all equipment as needed.
  • Follow hazardous waste disposal program and fire prevention procedures.

Required education, skills, and experience to be successful:

  • Preferred 1-year experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred high school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure for precise measurements.
  • Must read blueprints, engineering drawings and perform shop math to layout, fabricate, and weld various parts and assemblies.
  • Must process knowledge and experience in GMAW (MIG) and GTAW (TIG Welding machine.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and follow directions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Successful completion of the drug and background screening
