Job summary

G&W Electric Co. in Bolingbrook, Illinois is seeking a Welder II. The role requires Mig and Tig welding across multiple positions, a background reading drawings and BOMs, and the ability to operate grinders and torches.

You will participate in assembly and fit-up of subassemblies, maintain quality, and train others as needed. Pay ranges from $27 to $31 per hour with a comprehensive benefits package and a modern manufacturing facility.

Qualifications

• Holds a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience.
• Has at least one year of formal welding training or the equivalent level of experience.
• Has 3 years of welding experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Must be able to safety use small hand and power tools, measuring tools, air tools and welding equipment.
• Must be able to read and interpret Drawings and Bills of Material.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be able to perform Mig and Tig welding in various positions.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, align, square up, fit, stiffen and tack weld components and assemblies of moderate to advanced complexity.
• Fit parts using torch or carbon arc or hand grinding equipment to facilitate alignment and assembly.
• Set up and regulate pressure for oxyacetylene torch.
• Select electrode size and type, tips and welding rod or wire as required.
• Regulate gas, current and voltage for proper penetration and fusion of metals.
• Inspect and finish welds, grind excess weld as needed.
