Job summary

Chart Industries in Canton, GA is seeking an experienced TIG Welder for a day shift (5:00am–3:30pm, Mon–Thu). You will join a hands-on team fabricating cryogenic equipment and components, contributing to quality and safety in a heavy manufacturing setting.

You will read blueprints and BOM, select appropriate filler metals, perform welds to spec, document progress, and maintain tools, while following ISO procedures and regulatory safety rules.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years TIG welding experience.
• Must pass 3G vertical weld test and other weld tests (square butt, fillet, groove) as required.
• Experience interpreting blueprints and BOM.
• Basic math skills (weight, volume, distance, multiplication, division).
• Self-starter able to manage workload with minimal direction.
• Able to measure accurately using tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
• Overtime and weekend hours, as needed.

Responsibilities

• Independently performs moderate to complex TIG welding on fixtures.
• Welds metal parts on fixtures with jigs and clamps.
• Determines type and gauge of steel and adjusts heat for thickness variations.
• Uses blueprints and BOM to ensure correct dimensions and components.
• Updates and maintains documentation related to job responsibilities.
• Assumes responsibility for assigned tools and equipment.
• Keeps work area clean and adheres to hazardous waste disposal policies.
• Follows ISO standards and safety procedures.
• May perform mass spec and visual inspections as required.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

This is a day shift position. The hours are 5:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Thursday.

What Will You Do?

• Independently performs moderate to complex welding activities, including hand welding and material handling equipment
• Welds metal parts on fixtures including attaching jigs and clamps to hold metal parts in proper position
• Determines type and gauge of steel to be welded making appropriate heat adjustments, as required, on large thickness variations
• Uses blueprints and design sketches to ensure the proper dimensions and tolerance levels, as well as correct components installed on the finished product
• Updates and maintains all required documentation associated with job responsibilities
• Assume responsibility and care of assigned tools and equipment
• Maintains a clean work area and general housekeeping standards, such as care for assigned tools and proper disposal of hazardous waste
• Understands and practices established safety and quality standard procedures, including utilization of chemical solutions to clean containers
• Performs all tasks to ISO standards and requirements
• May be required to perform mass spec and visual inspections meeting stringent visual requirements
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role, including close vision, color evaluations and the ability to adjust to focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Medium to loud noise level in the work environment.

Required Experience

• A minimum of 2 years of TIG welding experience

• Experience interpreting blueprints and bill of materials (BOM)
• Basic math skills (weight measurement, volume, distance, multiplication and division)
• Self-starter capable of managing workload under minimal direction and supervision
• Must be able to measure with accuracy using tape measures, micrometers and calipers
• Overtime and weekend hours, as needed

Preferred

• High School diploma or GED
• Familiar with ISO procedures
• Knowledge of hazardous waste regulations
