This role supports the buildout of high-performance data centers by fitting and welding large industrial piping and structural steel to ASME Section IX standards. You will work hands-on throughout construction, collaborating with mechanical, structural, electrical, and operations teams to weld pipe, supports, and structural assemblies from initial installation through final turnover on next-generation AI supercomputing infrastructure.
Fit, tack, and weld large-bore industrial piping and structural steel, including pipe racks, platforms, supports, skids, and related assemblies, in accordance with drawings and ASME Section IX welding procedure specifications (WPS).
Lay out, cut, bevel, grind, and align joints, ensuring proper fit-up, root opening, and reinforcement before and after welding.
Read and interpret isometric, spool, and structural drawings, and work accurately to weld maps, heat numbers, and rod-control or continuity requirements where applicable.
Support the installation and hanging of strut, supports, hangers, and structural members, and assist with equipment setting and bolt-up activities required to complete the weld package.
Stage, move, and inventory pipe, fittings, structural members, filler metal, and tools, maintaining organized laydown yards and orderly work areas.
Open and close work areas each shift, including installing protection, performing fire watch, managing hot-work permits, removing debris, segregating scrap, and resetting the area so the next crew can start work immediately.
Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO), personal protective equipment (PPE), hot-work, and site safety rules, and refrain from welding on live or unpurged systems without proper authorization.
Report damaged materials, rejected welds, unsafe conditions, and drawing conflicts promptly so issues can be resolved quickly.
Support punch-list completion, weld repairs, and NDE hold-point activities through system turnover.
Journey-level industrial construction welding experience, typically 3+ years welding large industrial piping and/or structural steel, completion of a recognized welding apprenticeship, or equivalent military experience.
Hands-on experience with GTAW (TIG) on stainless steel and/or SMAW (stick) on carbon steel.
Current ASME Section IX qualification (for example, 6G) in GTAW on stainless steel and/or SMAW on carbon steel, or the ability to pass a pre-employment weld test to ASME Section IX in the processes and positions used on site.
AWS D1.1 structural welding qualification or equivalent.
Ability to read and interpret isometric, spool, and structural drawings, and follow welding procedure specifications (WPS).
Ability to safely operate welding machines, torches, grinders, and related hand and power tools.
Strong safety mindset and consistent adherence to site procedures, including hot-work permits and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements.
Willingness and physical ability to work at heights, outdoors, and on an active, evolving data center construction site.
Experience welding large-bore process, mechanical, or utility piping and heavy structural members.
Prior experience working on data center, industrial, or heavy-civil construction sites.
Experience supporting equipment setting, bolt-up, and structural installation as part of a weld package.
Demonstrated ability to maintain organized laydown yards and work areas in a fast-paced construction environment.
The organization offers a compelling long-term incentive structure, including a significant equity grant upon conversion to permanent employment that vests over four years, with an accelerated vesting schedule after the first year.
