Description
Responsibilities:
- Work detail drawings fit-up piece parts: fit, tack and weld piece parts according to detail drawings with components consisting of stainless steel channels, brackets, angles, sheathing, assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Ensure all dimensions are correct to specified drawings.
- Weld complete assembly according to specified welding standards.
- Must be able to make all welds uniform and clean, and complete work to employer's specifications.
- Set-up welding equipment for layouts, cutting and fit material for welds.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations.
- Polish and clean weld joints of work pieces.
- Welders are required to weld in all positions (6G).
- Must be able to read and have knowledge of weld symbols on blueprints.
- G.T.A.W – Experience with stainless steel 1G-6G positions.
- Must pass an ASME/PED weld test.
- Able to calculate circumferences.
- Fabricate equipment accurately and with proper procedures in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fabrication process.
- Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.
- Knowledge of all types of hand tools, fabricating equipment, and measuring devices.
- NDT/Liquid Penetrate all inside welds on electro-polished vessels.
- Work on stainless steel fabrication, including but not limited to:
- Cutting tube
- Operate hand grinders
- Polishing
- Bending
- Assembly
- Operate overhead crane and/or forklift.
- Physically capable of wearing protective eye, ear, and head gear.
- Must be able to stand 8+ hours per day.
- Inspect and maintain proper and safe operation of all shop equipment.
- Conduct operations in a safe manner.
- Work in confined spaces.
- Work in hot & cold environments.
- Recommend improvements.
- Will play an active role in identifying and driving Continuous Improvement (CI) opportunities.
- Execute other tasks as assigned.
- Ability to travel when required.
Requirements:
- Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Work Experience: Two (2) years previous Fabrication experience preferred.
- Other Requirements:
- Required to be able to perform simple math equations.
- Must be able to read a tape measure.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional verbal communication skills.
- Must be proficient with the use of hand tools and basic fabrication tools.
- Self-motivated.
- Must be proficient in reading blueprints.
- Necessary to be able to maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Typical work is in a manufacturing environment or customer’s site.
- Awareness of and prior experience with implementing Continuous Improvement (CI) a plus.
- Prior Lean/Six Sigma experience a plus.
